Nicks and Dings Part 3: Contrast Therapy

Pictured above, Robb Wolf, ex CF nutrition guru, enjoys the fruits of a nice ice bath. Contrast therapy is the simple act of taking your body through temperature extremes. Some have done this locally with a heating pad alternated with ice for the healing of injuries. It can also be done globally either with contrasting ice cold baths and hot baths or, more easily, with hot shower water and then cold shower water. This is a cheap, safe and easy way to increase circulation, flush toxins and speed healing. I have found this to be a very effective way to decrease aches and pains associated with bones and joints. It has not been noticeably effective for me at reducing delayed onset muscle soreness. You know, the kind you get a day or two after 300 air squats! Play with it and let me know what you find.

Overhead squat 1-1-1 reps
Front squat 1-1-1 reps
Back squat 1-1-1 reps

Try to increase the load on each of the nine sets.
