CrossFit/USAW Competition

CrossFit is once again crossing new boundaries. They have teamed up with the officially recognized olympic weightlifting authority in this country, USA Weightlifting, to create a world recognized olympic style weightlifting event combined with a CrossFit event. CrossFitters will go head to head with “real” olympic lifters on the platform. They will face the scrutiny of USAW judges critiquing every lift. There will be weight classes, singlets, official lifting heats, no pressed out lifts and many other aspects of a sanctioned weightlifting event. Along with the traditional style weightlifting competition there will also be a classic CrossFit AMRAP WOD (scoring for both events is detailed below). The action starts tomorrow live at 8:30 AM Pacific Time and will run all weekend.  You can stream this first-of-its-kind event live and in HD at live.crossfit.com. Heat times and other information is located here and here.

Scoring

The weightlifting portion will be scored by adding the kilograms of the athlete’s best snatch plus the kilograms of the athlete’s best clean & jerk. The CrossFit Triplet will be scored by adding the number of reps performed in the ten minute allotted time. The CrossFit Triplet is as follows: complete as many rounds as possible in ten minutes of six squat cleans (55kg men / 30kg women), 12 pull-ups and 24 double unders. For each round there are 42 reps/points available (6 + 12 + 24 = 42). The combined total of the weightlifting portion and the CrossFit portion will be your total score for the 2010 CrossFit / USA Weightlifting Open.

5:30 AM, 9:15 AM, and 5:15 PM Classes

Five rounds for time of:
5 Muscle-ups
115 pound Overhead squat, 10 reps
15 Toes to bar

20 GHD Sit-ups

Post time to comments.

  1. So it didn’t take as long as I thought it would to go from 5 to 10, so I have sent you guys an email. Hopefully the video works! I’m pretty stoked I finally did it 🙂

  2. 32:38 (or was it 34:38?)
5 Pull Up + 10 Orange Bang Ring Dip for MU’s

Toes to bar one at a time. Everyone’s favorite exercise!!! (Yet another skill to work on)

  3. 38:48 Rx’d

25 muscle-ups was just as hard as I thought it would be. I still have no handle on the toes-to-bar.

Ryan & Andrea are sooo close to muscle-ups! Just a little more practice and they are there.
