Clean Food Farm

Clean Food Farm is a small local farm in the Clearview area that is committed to doing things right. They are currently raising truly pastured chickens and pastured lamb. They have also just started a group of chickens for laying this summer. All of their animals are pastured, hormone and antibiotic free, fed no soy or corn and graze on pastures free of harmful chemicals. They are a small but mighty farm (not unlike our gym!). They have about 50 birds that are not spoken for at this point and will have two lambs available for this fall. If you have any interest in any of their products read here and then order soon before they are gone. One disclaimer…I have not been to the farm. This is all on the word of farmer Sarah, so if you wish to do more research feel free to call them at 206-949-7078 or email them. On another note…they contacted me because they knew that CF gyms are really focused on pastured quality animals. I just thought that was a cool reputation to have as a community and probably not one that was ever dreamed of when CF was originally launched.

  1. 28:42 rx’d (if you call it that, some movements were a little hairy)

1 min slower than last Nov. Nice job chipping through 5:30!

    Exciting news about the farm!

  2. 17:35 Rx’d. About 3 minutes faster than last time.

It would be nice to have a very local source for eggs from pastured chickens.

  3. 30:17 Rx’d(ish)

Love chippers, but it kicked my butt today!! Started with vest since I used it last time, but gave up halfway through the pull ups, just didn’t feel it, oiy.

-ish==ugly ring dips. Not sure they all would’ve been counted by a judge 🙂 A wiser/smarter/more beneficial choice would’ve been to scale with a band and move well, but I was just feeling a little too stubborn this morning. They must’ve taken 8-10mins!

    Most excellent work John! Impressive!

    • Thanks! This one looks easy on the surface, but has some surprises for everybody depending on where you are weak.

  4. I’m a member at Lynnwood CrossFit and heard you guys dedicated a blog post to Clean Food Farm! I would like to vouch personally for the excellent quality of their pastured products. My family is privileged to have spent time with Larry and Sarah on their farm and to see firsthand their commitment to their animals health and well-being. To those of you fellow CrossFitters out there who are considering adding pastured eggs and meat to your diet: take advantage of this amazing local resource! Your taste buds, your health, and maybe even your PRs will thank you!

  5. Mags and I destroyed the 9:15 class! Nearly Rx’d this one but had to scale the ring dips for push ups. 18:31

  6. WOO HOO NICE JOB BRAD!!!

  7. One of the things that I love about Crossfit is that every day is something new, and a challenge. The hardest thing to do in a week is pick your days off knowing that you will likely miss something fun…UGH, I want to do this one!!! In Nov 2010 I did it and could not make it through the workout…got dizzy. But, in the spirit of moderation…I will take a rest day today. (sigh)

But might need to sneak into the gym one day next week for a secret make-up WOD!

    Have fun today

    • definitely hard to plan that right. Seems like the moment I plan out rest days the WOD I had been looking forward to gets dropped on rest day. Of course burning out doesn’t make us stronger either. Rest day tomorrow, will enjoy it!

  8. Good choice on the rest day Ben! Your muscles are thanking you especially after rxing yesterday’s brutal wod.

  9. Dang it. I hate missing workouts.

Big PR over Nov: (PU & RD w red band, Knee lifts, DB SC @25#, 20 WB @ 14#’ KB @ 35#). Wow – today RX and 1:32 PR.

The best part of being the only person to show up on Friday @ 5:30 is I get todo the WOD I really want to do yesterday!!! Thanks Casey for the training and push.

    Happy Friday!
