4 -> + 1 Burpee
85# for Thrusters, very slow on the box jumps, Ryan talked about a tech for fast jumps… ahh Crossfit, always a new technique to master… good mix, towards end was not thinking anything was too easy. Next time add 5 to thrusters. Would it have been better to do a 20″ box and do more rounds?
5 rounds + 4 burpees (13.5wks-SC)
12 Step Up 17″ box (slow-ish)
6 Front Squat 60lbs (slow-ish)
6 Press 60lbs
6 inch worm Burpee + Air Squat
Great way to start a week with a full gym and good burner wod (or at least as close as I can get with a barbell).
The 85# felt nice. I went unbroken through all of them, but it was still fairly heavy. I’m going to go heavier next time. The box jumps got harder than I thought they would, but I just kept moving on those. 6 burpees is a manageable number (unlike 70).
3 rounds plus 1 thruster-Rx’d Decided to try and RX it and slog through it, next time I may go lighter on the thruster and try to get more rounds. 95# was unbroken but slow.
New coach at CFS today was awesome. Another addition to the great CFS staff!
Thanks for the comment on trying for the Rx Thruster, I tried 95# but was worried I would spend too much time on it. I think it would have been too frustrating for me w/ box height and weight.
I usually head to the main site and check the “Times” they post of folks who did the WOD. I realize most are Elite athletes but it gives me an idea of what they are looking for then I try and scale accordingly. This one was one of the few that I could RX all the elements so i thought I would try it, write it down and attempt to improve on it next time.
Occasionally I think the best thing is just to do something for the challenge, test ourselves or our fortitude vs. only doing the optimal training. (safely of course) I think it feeds certain parts and is good mental training. Though 3.5 rounds is none too shabby!
Obviously in moderation. 🙂
Worked out at Mountian View Crossfit In Boston today. Super nice group. Did 5×5 clean power hang. And then pull up ladder ( Which i got 11 ) ) They had the rogue cage which afterwards my hands and arms had spasms not use to that big of bars for pull ups. Going again sat with my brother he is going for the first time. Another victim. Happy birthday Brooke. Ps Super Bowl not to fun around here.
