Yings and yangs…the Deadlift.

Ying=The low back muscles contract to create extension.

Yang= The ab muscles engage to fight over extension

No ying. Ouch!

No yang. Abs are not engaged. All the spinal stabilization is being done by low back muscles.

Ying and yang= Nice! This guy has put himself in a position from which he can use all the muscles of his low back and abs to hold his spine in normal anatomical position while lifting a heavy load.

  1. 225# (~10PR): failed at 235 should have gone up by 5.. Lots of positive energy this morning.
